The Baker Electric will make a starring appearance in a new film called, The One Armed Man. It was written by Horton Foote who won two Oscars for To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies. He also won a Pulitzer for his play The Young Man from Atlanta.
The film is short – about twenty minutes in length, and it was shot in mid-August.
The action takes place at a cotton gin in Texas in 1921. One of the characters, the gin owner, drives a car. Tim Guinee, who is involved in the production of the project, contacted the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome to arrange for use of the Baker Electric and the Aerodrome’s 1913 Excelsior Motorbike in the film. Sean Crimmins from the Aerodrome spent a full day with the crew at a remote location to get the shots needed to help transport viewers back in time.
