This blog will cover the Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum’s efforts toward getting their 1911 Baker Electric automobile back to running condition. The Baker is an excellent example of a 100+ year-old vehicle that is entirely battery powered. This vehicle is an interesting piece of early automotive technology that is relevant to today’s world, directly relating to new interest and focus on “green-energy” and alternate power sources.
The Aerodrome is located in the New York’s Hudson Valley, just 2 hours from NYC, and the Aerodrome crew performs air shows every weekend from mid-June through mid-October, weather permitting. The shows feature vintage aircraft and vehicles from 1900 through 1940. Visit http://www.oldrhinebeck.org for additional information, and stop by during the 2013 season to see the Baker in action!
