1911 Baker Electric Participates in Red Hook Memorial Day Parade

We were honored to participate in the 2013 Red Hook Memorial Day Parade with our 1911 Baker Electric. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro was on hand to say a few words about the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made to keep us free. Here’s the video!

Aerodrome volunteer Philip Monteleoni captured the Baker on its first drive in over 10 years at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in these two film clips. Note the completely silent operation of the car.

On Friday, May 17,  the Baker pulled out of its winter storage hangar and workshop at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome under its own silent power with Sean Crimmins at the wheel…er…I mean tiller.  Videos to follow.

1st bank of batteries secured and wired in series. Still need the bottom braces, but 30 volts are ready for the 60 volt system.

More Good News…New Batteries, Meters and a New tire!

Last weekend we received a generous donation of batteries for the Baker from Chris Spano of Interstate Batteries!

Chris Spano from Interstate Batteries of Kingston, NY posing in front of the 1911 Baker Electric. Chris donated the 10 six volt batteries for the project to get the vehicle running for the Aerodrome’s 2013 season. At 250 amp-hours per battery, the car should be able to operate at full speed for three hours.

Here are the (10) six-volt, deep-cell batteries that will run the vehicle.

Karl Verderber custom built new meters to monitor the Baker’s 60 volt capacity system, and is shown here placing the meters in the mounting location.

We purchased a new 3 X 30 tire, and here it is, ready to be mounted on the driver’s side of the 1911 Baker’s drive wheel.
